Dog Themed Child’s Chair
Another month has rolled by and once again it is time for Themed Furniture Makeover Day. The theme this month is animal and I found the cutest child’s chair to makeover using a canine theme.
I was so excited to give this chair a makeover that I forgot to take a “before” picture of it. It was actually perfectly fine in it’s “before” state, I just knew that with paint I could give the plain wood some personality.
I painted the chair with several coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Everlasting, lightly distressed it, and finally waxed it with Americana Decor Cream Wax.
Does the dog that I added to the chair back look familiar? I printed out a picture of the sign that I recently made for my classroom door, cut it out, and traced it on the chair. If you saw my sign post then you know that the dog is Sherman and the artwork is by Mr. SP. I added a bandana to the dog’s neck for a pop of color.
Doggie paw prints across the seat are a canine finishing touch.
Sherman was a good sport and posed for a picture with the chair. Since I have no canine loving little person to give this to, this chair is for sale at my shop.
Do you want to know a secret? I took this chair to school and kept it in my classroom for a few days before I took it to my shop so that I could enjoy it. 🙂
I would love it if you would pin this chair to Pinterest for others to discover!
You can see all of the Themed Furniture Makeovers that I’ve completed here. We’ve had some fun themes over the past year and a half!
Our group has a new logo thanks to Lucy of Patina Paradise. Isn’t this fun?
Now it’s time to enjoy the animal themed furniture makeovers from my friends. I can’t wait until this evening when I can enjoy them, too!

This is so adorable, Paula! Sherman is just so precious and happy to have you!!!
woof! woof! How sweet are those paw prints?! Great job creating a sweet piece, Paula. 🙂
Aww too bad your classroom is full of big sixth graders who are too big for this cute chair! Love the paw prints…I’m sure someone will snap this up fast! XO
This is so adorable! I love that you brought it to school to enjoy it. I bet the kids had so much fun seeing it too…even if they probably can’t fit in it anymore! I think it’s so neat that it is Mr. SP’s artwork! Makes it that much better!
Aw but it’s adorable!!! I just love these little chairs. Great job Paula!

Your chair is so cute! Love the paw prints and love that you took it to school to enjoy it yourself before bringing it to your booth. :o)
Paula, your chair is adorable and yes I immediately recognized that little doggy. In fact when I saw it, I assumed you made this chair to use in your classroom.
This is darling! I’m loving how it coordinates with your big dog cut-out:)
I love that you had such a perfect fur-baby model for this project! That chair is adorable and I agree that it’s too bad your sixth graders are too big for it to stay in your room.
Awe, so very sweet! How cute Sherman was for posing. Mine fur babies usually come right up to the camera and nose the lens! Fun idea.
