Bathroom Renovation :: Part Seven
Let’s just say that Mr. SP and I aren’t quick DIYers. We started renovating our upstairs bathroom in January, it’s now August, and we are still working on the project. My last update was in March and a bit of progress has been made since then.

Not much happened in April and May because Mr. SP ran a marathon and we both were busy with work and USTA tennis. Our project also was on hold because Mr. SP was trying to determine some possible way to install a vent fan in the room. An electrician came over and it was determined that because of the location of the bathroom, it would have to remain ventless. The bathroom originally didn’t have a shower so steam wasn’t a problem when the house was built.
In June, Mr. SP installed a small vanity with a nice sized sink. He also installed a gorgeous Rohl faucet that unfortunately was missing a part. The Rohl customer service people were very helpful and quickly sent the small piece that was needed to make this faucet usable.
A new toilet was also installed in June.
Last weekend Mr. SP hung the door and made a threshold.
The threshold was made from a piece of prefinished hardwood floor. It was planed down, routed, and cut to fit. It still needs to be stained.
You can see that the floor outside of this bathroom is watermarked from years of hard use. I’m not quite sure what to do about that.
There’s a bit of tile work left to be completed along with painting and then this project will be close to being finished.
I’m so glad that the bathroom escaped damage from the storm.

Love it! I really wanted subway tile when I re-did my kitchen but due to the age of the house and the texture on the wall the contractor didn’t think I would be happy with the end result. But I do love the way yours looks!
Slow and steady wins the race! This bathroom may be taking a long time, but it’s going to be such a beautiful room when you’re all finished!
