Christmas Curb Appeal 2014
It’s finally here, the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas!
I’m starting December by joining a group of blogging friends for a Welcome Home Christmas Tour.
Each day this week we are sharing how we welcome others to our homes for Christmas.
Our home is on a corner lot and can be seen on three sides by neighbors when driving or walking past. I always like for my home to look nice, but this time of year Christmas Curb Appeal is especially important to me. I know I love to see houses decorated for Christmas and I want my neighbors to enjoy our home as well.
Wreaths with red bows adorn our windows.
The front porch posts are wrapped in lighted garland, a wreath is on the door, and the urns are filled with seasonal greenery.
I enjoy making wreaths and instead of Black Friday shopping, my mom and I crafted this one for my front door. The pine cone rosettes are from nature and were found on one of my many walks with my dog. 
After we made wreaths, Mama and I filled my urns with greenery and curly willow sticks spray painted silver.
Would you like to come in for a cup of coffee, cocoa, and perhaps a Christmas cookie or two?
At dusk the candles are plugged in and the lighted garland is turned on.
As darkness falls, the glow of the candles becomes brighter both inside and out.
A Christmas tree on our porch is turned on for the evening.
This is the entry that we normally use and also the one that our friends and family use. A Christmas tree really lights up this room at night.
Plexiglass panels cover the screens making this porch a room that can be enjoyed even in the cold of December. 
My brother’s sled in the corner is decked out for Christmas. My dad used to make sledding tracks for us with his tractor and then pull us up the hill so that we had fun going both ways. We lived on a farm and had long runs complete with a jump.
The porch tree can be easily seen by motorists as they drive by. It’s been years since I’ve had a tree on our porch and I know that my old neighbors are going to be glad to see it again. I have a feeling that my new neighbors are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see it for the first time.
The porch is very pleasant during the day. The panels help to keep this area warm without having to heat it. The red table that I painted for November’s Themed Furniture Makeover Day looks perfect here for the Christmas season.
For several years my front porch was adorned with a Pottery Barn inspired garland and the window wreaths were decorated with Christmas balls to match. Mama and I removed all of the balls from the wreaths and used some of them to fill this vintage crate from a now defunct local dairy.
