Easy Upcycled Twine and Lace Cans Craft
Upcycle cans into beautiful vases using twine and lace & use them to display flowers. Use seasonal ribbon to make vases for the season.
I’m sharing my easy upcycled twine and lace cans craft for this month’s Thrifty Style Team project hosted by Julie of Redhead Can Decorate.

Easy Upcycled Twine and Lace Cans Craft
I love a home decor project that is nearly free to make. Upcycled cans get transformed into vases with the addition of twine and lace ribbon.
To make the vase seasonal, use a different color ribbon.
This project is a good one to do with kids. Being a former teacher, I’m picturing it being a perfect Mother’s Day project.
Easy Upcycled Twine and Lace Cans Craft
Upcycle cans into beautiful vases using twine and lace & use them to display flowers. Use seasonal ribbon to make vases for the season.
Materials
- Twine
- 1" Lace Trim
- Cans, empty and washed
- Gorilla Glue
- Scissors
Instructions
Apply gorilla glue up and down the can in a diagonal pattern.
Start at the bottom of the can and add a line of twine at the bottom, pressing firmly to adhere the twine to the can.
Wrap the twine around the can, pressing the twine down as you go. You may need to add a little glue here and there.
When you get to the top of the can, cut the twine, and firmly press the twine to the can, securing it.
Add a dab of glue to the middle of the can, on top of the wrapped twine, and secure one end of the lace trim to it.
Wrap the trim halfway around the can, add another dab of glue, and press firmly to secure. Wrap the trim around the rest of the can, add a dab of glue where the trim will meet the other end. Cut the trim where it meets, and press firmly to secure it.

Very cute! I just love playing with cans! I save every single can that I can rescue. I’m actually in the process of making something with large coffee cans but I’m waiting for a few supplies to be delivered before I can move ahead. I want to cut them up and make all kinds of things with them! This is simple and very cute! I’m curious what you’re going to use it for?
I made several and am using one on my desk to hold pencils and the others as vases.
This is a great project to do with my grandchildren. So easy. I like that this is inexpensive also.

Did you find the gorilla glue got hot on the can? Sounds weird I know but I used one of the gorilla glues, years ago, on something metal and I remember it getting quite hot as it ‘cured’ I don’t remember which specific type of gorilla glue it was though.
