Vintage Halloween Costumes

Happy Friday! For this week’s Home & Decore Encore, I’m sharing vintage Halloween costumes.

I am very lucky that my mom saved many things from my childhood including some of the costumes that my brother and I wore.

I grew up on a farm way out in the country and my dad drove us to about six houses each Halloween.

We mostly visited elderly people which meant we sat down and visited for a while at each stop. I would give anything to go back in time and do this all over again.

I know you will enjoy my vintage Halloween costumes post. You’ll see my cousins’ costumes and also a few of my former students modeling the costumes.

Now let’s see what the other ladies are sharing this week.

  1. Those costumes brought back some memories! We had to be driven to go trick or treating as well since we didn’t live in a neighborhood. I remember having a sweaty face in those masks while trying the breathe through that tiny mouth hole. Then the rubber band would get caught in my hair and eventually break. Kids today have it so easy..lol.

  2. This post brings back so many memories. I have a picture from the 1950s of my brother David and I all dressed up for Halloween. We used to make our costumes which was a big part of the fun for us. The picture I’m referring to has David dressed as a ghost using a white bed sheet and me dressed as a comedian named Fannie Brice from my grandmother’s era. (She was born in 1900.)
Thanks so much for stirring up wonderful, joyous memories.
    Enjoy your weekend,
    Suzanne

  3. Kids today have gorgeous costumes. Back then, ours were homemade or like the ones you wore. Those masks were HOT, and I don’t mean in a good way.
