OBX Vacation 2013

I’ve been on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina enjoying a most relaxing vacation with my family.  Tomorrow we head home and back to our usual lives.

On a cloudy day we walked on the dunes.  This was so pleasant because the sand wasn’t hot and as an added bonus, it was great exercise.

We also spent a lot of time on the beach.  Being a wimp, I never completely got in the water.

Mr. SP went on a fun fishing trip with the guys.

We ate out most nighst and hit many of our favorite restaurants.  Mama also cooked a few delicious shrimp dinners for us.

Sherman came to the beach with us and had a ball playing in the sand and waves.  He had a long walk every morning and night when it was cool.

A highlight of our beach walks for Sherman was meeting other dogs.

 

Every day he made a new friend.

Sherman mostly splashed in the waves but he did get in a few times.

 

After a long walk on the beach, a drink sure does taste good.

 

One evening we went to Manteo for a family picnic.  Mama fried a pan full of chicken for the event.

After we ate we either relaxed or took walks around the town.

Sherman took several swims from the local boat ramp.

One evening we took a walk to the Wright Brothers Memorial where there’s a great view.

We tried to take a self portrait at the memorial and Sherman licked me just as Mr. SP snapped the picture.  He sure does have a long tongue!!

 

The highlight of the week was getting to spend time with my niece, Reese.  I don’t get to see her often and it was wonderful to see her every day for almost two weeks.

All good things must come to an end, including this fun vacation.  Now it’s time to look forward to July 4 festivities.
