Christmas Outside and On Our Porch
I am so glad that it is December and the holiday season. I’m delighted to join a fabulous group of blogging friends to share spaces that welcome others to our homes.
For us, welcoming others to our home starts outside. We go for a classic southern look with candles in the windows, a lighted garland and trees at our front entry, and a pretty wreath on the front door.
Our neighborhood gets a lot of pedestrian traffic and it is my hope that our neighbors who walk by enjoy our lights.
We used the same wreaths and lighted garland last year. A new addition to our Christmas outdoor lighting are two small trees in the front porch urns. Our neighbors moved to Florida this past summer and I bought the trees from them.
We live on a corner, so people who walk or drive by our home view it from two sides. We love putting a Christmas tree on our side porch for others to enjoy.
This is the view of our home at the corner.
We’ve had a Christmas tree on our porch almost every year since we were married in 1994. I hope it snows before Christmas so that I can enjoy this view with snow surrounding it.
We enjoy our porch almost year-round since it is enclosed.
The glow of the Christmas tree is so pretty at night. The green shutter is from my mom’s 1910 house. I’ve used it for displaying Christmas cards in the past and love it decorated with greenery and used as decor on the porch this year.
Perhaps since I’ve used Mr. SP’s skis as decor, some snow will soon fall. Truthfully, it’s been downright warm here lately. It doesn’t feel at all like winter is coming!
I made this tree long, long ago and haven’t used it for years. I’m glad that I saved it because I love how it looks on top of this Early Dawn Dairy crate that my mom passed along to me.
Thanks so much for letting me share the outside of our home and our porch with you this Christmas season. I’ll be back tomorrow sharing what I think is my very favorite Christmas wreath ever. That’s saying a lot since I’ve been wreath making for over 20 years.

I love your Christmas porches!
Thank you, Pamela. I’m lucky to have an enclosed porch that I can decorate with no worries of the elements ruining my things.
Paula, I love your home…the photos at dusk are just my idea of the perfect welcome home…and I’m decorating my porch right now! You’ve inspired me with your super creative touches…everything is just beautiful xo
Thank you, Robin! I enjoyed decorating this year and plan to savor those decorations every second that I’m at home between now and Christmas.
Paula your home is just beautiful!!! Love the candles and wreaths you have in the windows so pretty!

Oh, what a pretty set up! We will definitely bring the boys by one evening. #babyD has been completely enthralled with Christmas lights this year so he will love your decorations!

Hi Paula! Your home looks so pretty and I love the wreaths in your windows and that tree on the porch is wonderful. I may have to borrow your idea!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
Thanks, Shelia! So glad little Carter is doing better. 🙂
Paula, Very cozy and welcoming home. I love how you’ve decorated the green shutter from your mother’s home. Happy Holidays!
Thank you, Joan! I’m so glad that I spied that shutter in our basement when I was decorating. My mom was thrilled to see me using it, too.
Your house looks so pretty all lit up! I’m still in love with that tree on the porch! Beautiful job!
Thank you, Shanna! The tree is my favorite part, too. It’s so pretty when you drive toward our house and see it.
I just love what you did on your porch. From the skis to the gorgeous tree, it is absolutely lovely. Thanks for inspiring me once again. Pinned for when I get a porch once again 🙂
Make it a very Merry Christmas.
Paula, your neighbours must love driving/walking by your home in the evening. The lights look amazing and I love the tree on the porch. Pinning and sharing.
Your home looks like something out of Saturday evening post featuring the artist Norman Rockwell! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Your home looks so festive Paula! I love the look of wreaths in each window and the tree illuminated at night on your porch is gorgeous. Now all you need is a good snowfall and it’s a Christmas card waiting to happen.
I love your cozy. Christmas porch Paula! It’s festive and so.welcoming. Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Therese! I have fun decorating this area for each season but Christmas is my favorite.

Beautiful, Paula! I am envious of that side porch of yours — it must be so fun to decorate as well as a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the outdoors from the indoors – ha! LOVE it!
Thanks, Julie! We do enjoy our porch and it’s nice that we can use it most of the year.
Paula
Your house looks gorgeous at night! It looks so warm and inviting. Like if I knocked on the door there would be a warm hot cider waiting for me. 🙂 I need to drive through your neighborhood to look at lights. That doesn’t sound creepy at all…
Nice pictures! My family enjoyed your beautiful décor at Christmas time. Please let me know if you ever decide to sell the Early Dawn milk crate, I am interested as it was my great grandfathers Dairy. Thank you
That is so neat, Jeremy! I’ll need to ask my mom about selling it as she gave it to me.
My dad was a dairy inspector. I wish he was still around because there’s a good chance that he knew your great-grandfather.
