Dishing it in December
It’s been a while since Amanda has hosted a dishing it party. This month’s topic is Christmas. Consider joining in the fun, it’s a great way to meet new friends.
Amanda asked these questions to get the party started.
~Do you have any specific traditions that your family looks forward to each Christmas? Mama fries the best oysters I’ve ever tasted each and every Christmas. I look forward to them all year long.
~Is your tree real or fake? I love a real tree, but went with a pre-lit fake a few years ago. My grandmother made the skirt out of felt in the early 1970’s.
~Do you have any favorite ornaments? Oh my goodness, how could I pick a favorite?? My absolute favorite ornaments are my Swarovski snowflakes.
Mama gives me a P. Buckley Moss ornament each year. I love those, too. I’m getting to the point where those ornaments need their own tree. This year I’m getting “Clifton Mill.”
~What’s your favorite Christmas treat? My grandmother made the most delicious very thin iced sugar cookie that melted in your mouth. Nothing will ever compare to those.
~Best Christmas gift you ever received? I can’t pick a best. My mom and dad made sure that I had a great Christmas every year of my life. When I was growing up I’d get things for my horse and clothes that I wanted. I remember the year that I got a new bridle, I kept looking at it and smelling it because I loved it so much. Once my mom and dad bought a pie safe for me and wrapped it with a big bow. My mom used to send us on a treasure hunt for our last gift. We loved looking for the clues. Mr. SP spoils me rotten each and every year. I’m a lucky girl!
~Coolest crafty thing you made or home decor thing you tried this Christmas season? I love the Pottery Barn knock-off garland that I made for our front porch.
I also love the washer ornaments that I created for my friends.
~Your favorite Christmas movie? Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation makes me laugh.
~Most difficult person you have to buy for? My father in law is difficult. Luckily he is happy with books, coffee, or candy.
~What’s the number one thing on your kids’/husband’s/wife’s/significant other’s list this year? Mr. SP would really like a dock but I don’t think that Santa will be able to fit that down the chimney.
If you are reading this Santa, Mr. SP wants it right here.
~If Santa could bring you one big surprise this year, what would you want it to be? Anything that sparkles would be a nice surprise…..

How wonderful, Paula, for you to have so many good Christmas memories! It makes my heart smile to think of you as a little girl, sniffing the leather of that bridle.
