DIY Wheat Wreath for Fall
An antique mirror hangs over our fireplace, and while it’s beautiful alone, it looks even better when it’s adorned with a seasonal wreath. To decorate this mirror for fall, I crafted a DIY Wheat Wreath.
Make a DIY Wheat Wreath for Fall
Supplies
Wire Wreath Form (Similar to what I used)
Scissors
Procedure
Wrap wire around the wreath form a few times to secure it. Cut the stems off 3 to 5 wheat stalks and wire to the wreath form.
I started with a bundle of five wheat stems and the next bundle I added was three stems.
Continue wiring bundles of 3 to 5 wheat stems until the wire form is covered.
Hang the Wreath
I used a clear Command hook to hang the wreath from the mirror.
Enjoy
I love how this wreath looks hanging over my mantel and it coordinates with the vintage wheat sheaves hanging on either side of the mirror.
I’m hoping that I’ll be able to store this wreath to use in future years. My plan is to store it in a bubble wrap lined box in a dry area. If the wreath only lasts one season, that is fine, as it took very little time to make, and I can easily make another next year.
If you have a spot where a wheat wreath would look good in your home for fall, give this project a try!

I love decorating with vintage and just about everything that I used for this year’s fall mantel is old. It’s crazy for me to think that brass candlesticks that were wedding gifts are now considered vintage.

It looks great, Paula! For some reason, I always have a hard time finding wheat wreaths but I never thought to attempt making one! Have a great week!

I don’t see wheat wreaths available very often, either. Maybe it’s because they are so delicate that they’re difficult to ship.
This is gorgeous. I dried wheat into bunches at the end of summer. Next year I will turn them into wreath now that you showed me how. Gorgeous job.
You are so lucky to have wheat available to dry. Good luck with your wreath making!

I LOVE this, Paula! I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that my mom grew up in Kansas, so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for wheat. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m pinning this idea and hope to make one for myself.
And your new blog design looks beautiful! Love the way you’re using your full name!
Thank you for joining the Grace at Home party. I’m featuring you this week!
That is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us; Pinned.
Hello! I’ve been looking for a wheat wreath for a few years but am now inspired to make one, thanks to your instructions. How many wheat bundles did you use? And what size was your wire frame? I’d like to make one for my front door so will make it fairly large. Thanks in advance for the information.
The wreath that I made is very small since I used in on top of a mirror. My wreath was ~10″ in diameter and I purchased two bundles of wheat from Hobby Lobby to make it.
Good luck with your wreath!
