Entertaining Weekend
I have been really slack all summer and have done very little entertaining. This is the last weekend before school starts, so I decided to get busy and invite some friends over. Today I’m having a ladies luncheon for some of my tennis friends. Saturday I’m having a cookout. It took me most of the day yesterday to prepare the food. I like to do as much ahead of time as possible.
Menu for Ladies Luncheon:
~Chicken quiche with cheesy pecan crust
~Tomato slices with basil and fresh mozarella
~Pineapple casserole
~Cupcakes
Menu for Cookout:
~Mojitoes
~Cheese Slaw with crackers (Recipe from Sippycups)
~Tequila lime chicken on the grill
~Potato salad
~Broccoli salad
~Deviled eggs
~Cupcakes
I was too cheap to buy flowers, so here’s what I came up with for my table. There’s slim pickings for flowers in my yard right now.
Now I’m ready to party!
Hi Sweet Pea!
I have been reading your blog and so enjoying your recipes and creativity. I don’t have a blog and can’t even remember how I came across yours! I’ve felt kind of strange not acknowledging that I visit, so hear I am to say hello and actually ask a favor. Could you tell me what company makes the plates you have on today’s post?
I really love them and have been looking for something similar.
Thanks so much-Kathy
Hi Kathy! I’m glad you enjoy my blog and I hope you keep reading and commenting.
Do you remember Best stores? That’s where those dishes came from. Mama got them for me when I moved into my college apartment in 1989. The back of the plate says “Tablemates, hand painted, Malaysia.” Perhaps you could find them on Ebay or at Replacements. Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I responded 2 days ago, but it must have gotten lost in cyberspace! I did find the pattern at Replacements. It’s called Spring Tulips. Now the big decision…to order or not!
Hope your school year is a good one.
I love the mixture of greenery–lots of texture and shades of green! That food sounds fabulous!
