French Themed Table Makeover
It’s time once again for Themed Furniture Makeover Day. Once a month my blogging friends and I challenge each other to makeover a piece of furniture with a theme. This month the theme is French. You’ll find links to my friends’ projects at the end of this post.
Back in July I found a table at Goodwill and knew then that it would be my candidate for this makeover. It was solid, I liked it’s shape, and it needed no repair other than to fill in a few gouges in the wood with wood filler.
I knew that I needed to complete this makeover before school started because things get crazy for me once I go back to work. On a blissful summer morning after a run while enjoying a third cup of coffee, I stumbled upon the perfect stencil to use for my French makeover. This stencil comes with a Paris overlay but I decided not to use it.
While I waited for the stencil to arrive in the mail, I sanded the table and gave it a few coats of Maison Blanch paint in Mushroom. After the paint was dry, I centered the stencil on the table, taped it into place with Frog Tape, and then stenciled on (affiliate link)Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Relic using a stencil brush.
I very lightly distressed the legs and table edge with sandpaper and then sealed the piece with (affiliate link)Americana Decor Light Satin Varnish.
As much as I like this piece, I most likely won’t be keeping it. If you are local and are interested in this piece, let me know!
