Frito Bars
Have you ever tried Frito Bars? If you haven’t, after you’ve read this post, you probably will want to!
What are Frito Bars?
Frito bars are a no-bake bar cookie that only requires four ingredients.
A mixture of equal parts peanut butter, sugar, and corn syrup are melted together to form a mixture that tops Fritos.
The combination is the perfect mixture of sweet, crunchy, and salty.
One fall when I was still teaching 7th grade, the teachers had a tailgate before our school’s football team played.
Crystal, a great teacher friend, brought this delectable treat to the tailgate.
I have a HUGE sweet tooth and after one bite, I immediately asked Crystal for the recipe.
If I remember correctly, Crystal’s grandmother found this recipe in a magazine and had made it for years.
How to Make Them
This is such an easy recipe!
Start by spraying a 9 x 13″ pan with cooking spray and then adding a 9.25 oz bag of Fritos, spreading them out evenly.
Combine one cup each of peanut butter, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is combined together.
Pour over the Fritos. If necessary, use an angled spatula to spread the mixture evenly.
Refrigerate until the mixture is set and cut into bars.
For this batch, I cut the bars into 24 squares. If I’m making these to take to a party, I often cut them into smaller squares.
Is your mouth watering?
I first shared this on my blog in 2009. I’m resharing it today with updated pictures.
Eleven years later, I still love this dessert and I think that you will as well.
Let me know if you try them!

Girrrl, I’m gonna have to make those! Yum!
So funny ! I was just thinking about these frito bars. I had them for the first time at your place. And I searched your blog for an old recipe, which I found. And printed. Thank you !! And here they are again. One small problem is that they’d be gone in a flash. By me eating them. Tom doesn’t eat sweets so much.
These remind me of a similar bar made with corn flakes. It looks delicious!

I love reading recipes from across the pond. The ingredients are always so different! I have no idea what Fritos are, but the bars look divine and anything with peanut butter is good with me!

I never heard of using Fritos in a dessert ! Just genius and I love the salty sweet combo. Come link up to our Meatless Monday recipes tomorrow
I’m not entirely sure what Fritos are, we don’t have them in the UK. I’m going to have a search online and see if we have a suitable substitute over here!
Wow, Paula. These look a lot like my “World’s Fastest Cookies,” but to use Fritos–genius! I LOVE the combination of salty and sweet!
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party, friend. I’m featuring you this week!
I’m a bit skeptical… but I’ll give these Frito bars a try! You have so many great cookie recipes!
Congrats on being the most clicked from last week’s Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party! This week’s party is live, and we’d love to have you!
Omg Paula this looks so yummy. I think Fritos and peanut butter are the perfect combo and I can’t wait to try this. Pinning for later.
I made these bars and they are HARD! Did I cook the topping too long? They are terrible! Please let me know what I did wrong.
If they are hard, the topping must have been cooked too long. I am sorry that this happened to you and I hope that you’ll be willing to try this again as it really is a great dessert.

This sounds so good! Visiting from the Thursday Favorites link up.
They are so yummy and are always a hit!
These look SO good. I love the combination of salty and sweet. I typically have Jif Natural peanut better at home. Do you think that will work well?
I think natural peanut butter will work fine with this recipe, I hope you enjoy them!
Oh my goodness, these look delicious! They’re a lot like my “World’s Fastest Cookies,” but the idea of preparing them with Fritos. . . well, salty and sweet just can’t be beat as a combo! I’ve pinned this on my “Recipes – YUM” board for future reference. 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
Thank you so much, RichelLa! I’m at Haven and so wish that you were here with me.
Gotta try these-real picnic food! Thx!
I promise you will love them!
This wouldn’t last one day in my house. I’ve got to make these for sure.
Thanks for sharing at the FWF party.
Hugs,

Thank you so much, Rachelle!
I’ve made this recipe, but slightly different. I place Frito Scoops in a 9×13 dish or on a large tray. I melt the peanut and corn syrup together. I leave the sugar out as it’s already sweet enough with the syrup. Once the PB and syrup are melted together, I drizzle it over the Scoops and leave it sit at room temperature. It’s always a hit wherever I take it. I reminds me a bit of a Payday candy bar!
Thank you for sharing your version! I can’t wait to try it.
These are delicious
Thank you so much, Susan.
these look like a fun snack…..we love fritos here in my house…BUT….Corn syrup!! UGH!!!! SO bad for our bodies!! (We are mostly plant based and try to NOT consume refined sugar). I wonder if I could substitute all natural peanut butter for the regular PB, and use raw sugar vs refined and use agave or honey vs corn syrup?? I’m gonna try these for a fun valentine’s snack!!
I hope substituting the ingredients gives you a delicious end result.
