Cook first 3 ingredients in a Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring until meat crumbles and is no longer pink. Drain well.
Combine meat mixture, beans, and next 11 ingredients in Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 3 hours or until thickened. Garnish, if desired.
My Note: I have made this many times with whatever beer Mr. SP has on hand. Any type seems to work just fine. Someone left a Guinness at our house so I used it to get it out of the fridge.
I took this chili to Wintergreen last weekend to share with my friends. Everyone loved it and not a drop was left. This is a great recipe that I highly recommend.

Sounds great. Chili is one of the few things I never follow a recipe with. But, I see several things there I need to add to my next batch.
One question, what is the stirring thing in that first picture?
Mmmmmm…T would love this! Who wouldn’t love this??! Perfect for the Super Bowl! 🙂
Wish I had this recipe last week. I made chili for the boys poker night and I think they would have loved this. Sounds great for next tho. Thanks for sharing. Stella
I will try this. I posted a recipe using salsa in chili, but the beer makes this one very interesting. I think I have the ground beef from The Meating Place just waiting for this recipe.
BTW, you are welcome to Applejack Lane any day you are in the area.
Yummy!
I like that nifty little black tool you use for breaking down the meat while browning. Where does one get one of those?
Ahhhh chili…..nothing says comfort like a nice bowl of hot chili. I put chocolate in mine…seriously!
