Italian Roast
This recipe was given to me by my running partner who got it from his mother. It can be used with either beef or pork. I used a sirloin tip roast and let it cook all day in the crock pot. I shredded the meat and served it on buns.
Italian Roast
2-4 lb meat
1 stalk celery, chopped fine
1 large onion, diced
3-4 large cloves of garlic, minced or pressed
1/2 bottle ketchup
1 bottle chili sauce
2 cups water
1 T vinegar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1 T salt
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t oregano
1 T Italian seasoning
Put meat in roaster. Mix all ingredients together. Pour over meat and cover. Bake at 325 degrees until meat breaks apart.
Break the meat apart and shred with forks.
*These directions are for the oven. I mixed the ingredients the night before, put the roast in the crock pot the next morning, and dinner was nearly ready when I arrived home from work.*
I mixed the ingredients together the night before and put my crock pot liner in the refrigerator.
The next morning I added my roast and let it cook all day. By evening, the meat was tender and ready to shred.
Shred the meat with two forks.
Put the meat back in the crock pot to mix with the juices.
Serve on toasted buns.
Get ready for compliments because this is good! Enjoy!

This looks yummy. What exactly do you mean by chili sauce? Is it really spicy? (when I think chili sauce I think Tabasco or cholula, but I grew up in Az and everything is hot there :-).
Oh, this looks SO GOOD! Thanks for sharing. I have several roasts in the freezer 🙂
Blessings!
