A Little Bit of This and That

My curtain pattern came this week. It doesn’t seem too complicated and won’t be terribly hard to make. The worst part will be the panels because they’ll be long and bulky. I may just make the valences and not do the side panels. I had hoped to look at fabric this weekend, but it didn’t happen. There’s never enough time.

We went to a benefit concert for Habitat last night at Sweet Briar. One of my former students has a band and I wanted to see him perform. He was terrific! I predict that he’ll make it big in bluegrass music one of these days. When I got to the concert I looked around for him and didn’t see him. I was really bummed because I wanted to at least say hello to him. The next thing I knew, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and when I turned around he gave me a giant bear hug. It was good to see him again!

Here’s Mason (on the right) with the rest of his band, “Hard Drivin’ Grass.” They are all local kids, either from Amherst or Albemarle Counties. None of them are old enough to drive!

Hubby and I started off our winter mixed doubles season with a win. Winning is so much better than losing!! We went to our club to warm-up before the match and hubby hit me in the eye with a volley and it hurt so much that I cried. It stopped hurting quickly and I don’t think that my eye will be black.

I’m going to try to be very organized this year and plan our meals out for the week. I’m off to make two casseroles. We’ll eat some of one tonight and then eat the rest this week.

This is a five day work week. I’m not liking that too much!!

  1. I love the pattern you chose and look forward to seeing what you come up with. The length of the panels wouldn’t bother me, it’s the lining.

Great that you support your former student.

  2. Do you play USTA mixed doubles?

I played my first match last week!

I love mixed doubles, but you really have to stay on your toes. I can’t even IMAGINE getting hit in the eye by a ball hit by a man. NO WONDER you cried!

That band looks like they could hit the big time! I’ve never heard them play, but they sure are a good looking bunch.

  3. I do play mixed doubles. My husband is my partner. That doesn’t work for a lot of people, but it is a good match for us. He’s much better than I am and makes up for my mistakes.
