November Gardening
November gardening has mostly consisted of mowing and raking at our house. After that’s been accomplished, we haven’t had energy or time for much else.
One thing that I must soon do is to clear away my now dead vegetable plants and store the posts and tomato cages for next year.
The garlic that I planted in October is growing! I hope to have a good 2012 crop.
Did you know that a Paper White will live and bloom if you plant it after you force it indoors? This one has been in the ground for years and blooms every year!
Our Winterberry Holly has just a few berries. We hope to have more berries next year now that our lady has a gentleman nearby. This year’s pollination was courtesy of “who knows.” Next year we hope our lady will get a bit more pollen from her new husband.
The gentleman holly is behind the lady, just to the right of the big rock. He’s small and pretty camouflaged right now. I hope my lady is covered in red berries next year.
Green grass is so pretty, especially when there’s no leaves on it. Does your neighbor maintain their property? Ours doesn’t and it drives me nuts! Can you believe that this property was once on the garden tour??
Today is my last day of school and then I’ve got five days off. I am so excited for this break. Are your kids in school this week? A few systems in my area have the entire week off.
Your yard looks fantastic! Love the paper whites. I’m forcing some in the kitchen right now. Will, plant them this spring outdoors. We’re in school thru Wednesday it have Fall Break in October for a couple of days. Have a great Thanksgiving!
You’ve done a great job with your grass. It’s discouraging having a neighbor who isn’t into the yard in even the most basic way. Our block is pretty even — no real stars, no garden tour-worthy candidates, but all neatly kept. I hadn’t thought about that until you brought it up. Enjoy your break!
Your yard is gorgeous!! Love those holly berries. Also, how did my yard get in that pic of your next door neighbor’s? π π
Can’t believe the paperwhites will continue to bloom! I love those flowers. Can’t wait to get some started. I will definitely try putting my paperwhites in our garden.
Enjoy being off of school! The kids have a half day tomorrow and then start vacation!
It is so much fun to see the new colors of fall!
Have great Thanksgiving.
