Spring is Just Around the Corner
Forcing branches is one of my spring traditions. My mother used to brighten our house with forced Forsythia branches every year. I started doing the same thing when I moved into my first apartment in college. Who doesn’t enjoy blooms in the dead of winter?
I am experimenting this year with branches other than Forsythia. I’m also forcing Weigela, Cherry, and Lilac. I hope that all of these will bloom indoors.
It will be fun to watch the blooms of each open. Seeing fat buds on these branches while the bushes are still surrounded by snow is a reminder that spring is indeed just around the corner.
I’m hosting my first Giveaway later this week. Be sure to keep visiting!
I’ll bet they will look gorgeous! I have never tried forcing anything, but then I don’t have a very good track record with living things in my house!
Paula I have never forced branches but would LOVE to! Directions would be great – thank you!
Bonnie
Love the idea. I’ve heard of it before but never actually thought about doing it. Wonder where I can pick some up at…hmmm
Your table looks awesome Paula. I’m not familiar with forcing, but I’m assuming that means just cutting the branches and sticking them in water? I might need a tutorial on that one – Ha!
xoxo,
Kim
Paula, Can you tell me what color paint you have in the dining room – it is beautiful. Can you give us some tips on forcing the branches? Thanks, Laura

Oh Paula Sweetie…
Good Morning. I have never heard of this forcing blooms, but it appears you are going to watch them bloom indoors. Do they root in these vases or do they bloom because they are indoors in the water? I need a tutorial on this too. So interesting.
I love your table sweetie. It looks so beautiful. Can’t wait to see it in full bloom.
Have a beautiful day. Country hugs sweetie…Sherry
I have always wanted to do this, Paula. I can’t wait to see what yours look like. They look pretty even ‘as is’ in the pretty vases. Bare branches are very ‘in’!! 🙂

I like the look of the branches, but they will be even more beautiful when they bloom. 🙂 Your table is lovely!
Great idea. Could you please share with us how to do it? and please share pictures when they bloom?
smiles,
Wendy
Love your table! I am so ready for spring also…never really heard of forcing them to bloom, but I would love to know what you do…is it just cut and put in water?
Well, it looks like you’re going to have to post directions! Great idea!
xoxo Pattie
