Still Beaching
We continue to have a great time on this vacation. After being at the beach for two and a half days without once seeing the ocean, I finally made it down to the beach on Sunday. To be honest, the only reason that I went down to the beach at all was because Mr. SP abandoned me to play tennis with some local guys.
It was fun to sit on the beach for a while, but I can’t just sit all day in the sun like I used to do. Mama and I walked down a few blocks so we could hang out on the beach with my cousins, aunt and uncle, and the kiddos.
It was fun to watch the guys play in the water. I tried to get in but it was too cold for me!
Mr. SP and I headed to a local tennis club on Saturday to join in with their Saturday morning clinics. We headed back to the same club last night for a mixed doubles social. We played three sets and then sat around drinking, socializing, and eating the snacks that everybody brought. The locals are so nice and so welcoming. We had so much fun hanging out with them!
Mr. SP went with my cousins deep sea fishing today. Mama and I spent the day preparing for a family party that we are hosting tonight. We are having bbq sandwiches, fried chicken, hot dogs, broccoli salad, black bean salad, slaw, brownies, and cookies. We both decided that if we do a family party next year, we are buying everything from the deli! We are waiting on the guys to get home now so that the party can begin. I predict that there will be some hungry and thirsty men partying here tonight.
Tomorrow will be a tennis and boating day. We also need to put a new storm door on the house (the old one blew off in a bad wind storm) and do some toilet repairs. It seems like every time we come down here Mr. SP has to fix a toilet. He already replaced the handle and lock on the sliding door that somehow got broken.
My aunt and uncle arrive on Wednesday and will stay with us until Friday. We may try to get the place cleaned up on Friday afternoon and head on home. We’ll be home for the 4th of July and all of the fun that day brings if we go ahead and leave on Friday. Traveling on the 4th would stink!
I’ll have a fishing success (I hope) story tomorrow. It would be great to have fish to eat and to freeze for later. We’ll see!
More fun, I see!! 😉
Your party tonight sounds wonderful…I’d love to see pictures of the beach house!

Sounds like a great vacay so far!!!
Wow, lot’s of tennis! Sounds like heaven.
I agree with the sun thing. I prefer to sit in the shade these days. I think it has to do with my wrinkles…I don’t want any more!
I didn’t realize you were still there having fun! I’m happy you are still there. Summers are too short not to have loads of fun.
Was your bbq the NC pork kind? Sounds like a great menu to me, but I understand what you are saying…all that takes time to put together.
Enjoy the remainder of your time at the beach and tell you mama hello from me! 🙂
